    Position Overview
    The person holding this position reports directly to the Director of Investor Relations for direction, training, questions or explanation concerning the work and chamber policy. The status of this position is permanent and full time. Responsibilities include new member sales and up-sells.  This position requires a three-month probationary period.

    The Investor Relations Sales Assistant is responsible for the sales of new memberships within the Metro North Chamber’s region as well as retention of existing members.
     
     
    Key Responsibilities include:
    • The fulfillment of annual new sales and member retention targets
    • Prospecting via telephone and field work
    • Input of new prospects and new member information into the Chamber’s database and client tracking systems
    • Support of sales duties as assigned by the Director of Investor Relations
    • Help in Identifying prospective Chamber members and implementing a monthly sales plan that is presented to the Director of Investor Relations and the President/CEO
    • Assist in the oversight of a volunteer-led membership sales committee
    • Developing a thorough understanding of the various Chamber membership levels and the benefits each provides a business as well as the Chamber’s various programs and initiatives
    • Tracking metrics to measure success: sales, member visits, calls, and member conversions
    • Contacting, acquiring and selling new Chamber memberships to businesses and organizations located throughout the metro area
    • Achieving budgeted revenue goals
    • Ensuring all sales processes are integrated and strategic and that are supportive of strategic plan objectives, brand positioning, brand standards and that are kept within established budgets  
    • Maintaining accurate statistics and data on return on investment of marketing programs
    • Assisting in the monitoring of industry trends and local issues impacting the Chamber’s membership sales efforts
    • Actively supporting and participating in Chamber events and programs (some early morning and evening participation will be required)
    • Attend trade shows and networking events (some evenings/weekends)
    • Cultivating relationships in order to upgrade current investment levels with members to higher levels of membership
    • Working renewal accounts and targeted major accounts
    • Assisting Chamber members in taking full advantage of their membership including participation (attendance and volunteerism) and retention in the Chamber
    • Representing the Chamber in a professional manner
    • Working closely with the Chamber’s Director of Investor Relations
     
    Qualifications Overview
    Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, business, related field or equivalent work experience. Minimum of two years of experience in sales/marketing positions with preference to experience working in the chamber of commerce/association management industry. Knowledge of sales functions and customer service-oriented principles. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively cultivate relationships with prospects, members, volunteers and community stakeholders. Experience and success in developing compelling written, oral and visual presentation materials. Ability in assessing marketing opportunities and develop strategic plans to reach targeted audiences. Ability to organize, plan and prioritize workload involving multiple projects at one time. Ability to think creatively and innovatively as well as provide solutions. Ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences. Strategic, critical thinking and problem solving abilities. Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team. Results-oriented and willingness to be accountable for measurable goals. Ability to prospect/cold-call new businesses and to upgrade and sell major accounts. Must have the ability to foster the values of member relations and quality assurance in customer service. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel and Word.
