Metro North Chamber Hosts the 4th Annual Mayors’ Roundtable
The Metro North Chamber of Commerce held our 4th Annual Mayors’ Roundtable on Monday March 19th, 2007 at the Westin Westminster.“The Mayors’ Roundtable provides the ideal forum for business, educators and elected officials to interact on issues of regional significance. As evidenced by the growing audience and record number ofparticipating mayors this event showcases the need for regionalism and that business has no borders.” states Craig Carlson, Chairman of the Metro North Chamber. |

| Hot topics with many of the communities were transit oriented development, FasTracks, specifically along the Highway 36 cooridor. The discussion of retail tax dollars was unanimous throughout the region with all agreeing that the impact of this years snow storms have been detrimental to all of our cities. Several Mayor’s discussed the need for retail development, the challenges associated with bringing in big box stores and the need to balance the benefits derived from retail tax dollars these businesses generate. The evidence of strong partnerships among all the Mayor’s was clear and each agreed that the need for economic development and redevelopmentwere important to long term sustainability of the region. With growth at an all time high, the future for the Metro North region is both exciting and a challenge for each city to provide quality jobs, infrastrucuture and sustainability for future generations. Lastly, the Metro North Chamber of Commerce was applauded by all of the participating Mayors for providing the forum and opportunity to come together and discuss the issues facing the Metro North region and their individual cities.
